My initial impression of VueScan is that it's very basic film scanning software, without much editing ability. (About 50MB)Īnyone have any thoughts on this.? Is VueScan really that much better, or would I be better off sticking with what I know? One thing I don't like is that the files are huge compared to files of comparable resolution and in the same format as those from SilverFast.Ī JPG from VueScan is the size of a TIFF from SilverFast. The one thing I do like about it so far is that it has (a lot) more film profiles than SilverFast does. These RAW DNGs are generally better to use (vs regular tiff files) for a number of reasons: It gives us better control over how the orange mask is neutralized.
VUESCAN VS SILVERFAST REGISTRATION
Negative Lab Pro includes unique RAW Profiles made just for these type of files. Kayla Bodenstein on VueScan Pro 9.7.25 Download Registration X64 Windows. I can generally figure software out pretty quickly, but this seems pretty basic to me unless the advanced features are hidden somewhere. Both Vuescan and Silverfast are capable of creating RAW DNG files.
VUESCAN VS SILVERFAST HOW TO
I mean, I can't find how to change any settings like exposure, levels, contrast - anything like that. Is there something I'm missing, or is everything just buried in menus? I can't even figure out how to make it show the histogram. I can't figure out how to do things that are very simple in SilverFast. I've skimmed through the user guide, and looked over all of the menus. The results are definitely better than they were, but Id like to do better if I can. I see a lot of people (including VueScan's website) saying it's better than SilverFast. Does anyone have experience with both Vuescan IT8 Kodachrome colour calibration and SilverFast AI IT8 colour calibration I recently profiled my Nikon LS-5000 scanner in Vuescan with a Kodak Kodachrome Q60 target. I read in a few threads here people recommending VueScan, so I downloaded it (on the free trial now). In addition if Silverfast is bought bundled with a scanner the licence and usage is restricted to exactly only this scanner. Both are a lot faster than the old original Nikon software. I've been using SilverFast for a few years now and pretty much have it figured out. Vuescan is very easy to use, silverscan has a strong learning curve.
